Katherine Lewis

Katherine Lewis is a social worker, genealogist, and doctoral student of history. She utilizes mixed methods research in federal- and state-funded grant projects, evaluating services for behavioral health for children, youth, and families. Katherine has lived experience of psychosis. She studies and practices oral history as a primary methodology because she believes it is an important methodology for increasing the intersectional capacity of historical research. Histories have a narrator; oral histories hand the mic over to people with lived experiences. Katherine's historical research uses oral histories to establish and challenge epistemic injustices, which is how power influences how different groups of people conceptualize and control the world.
