Embarking on my journey in oral history in 2017, I fell in love with the art of capturing and preserving the diverse narratives that make up our shared human experience. I had the privilege of training at Weber State University under the mentorship of a seasoned oral historian, and have increased my training in the years since then through seminars and field experience. Having conducted nearly 100 interviews since my initiation, my work as an oral historian has taken me to various archives and museums. In these roles, I've had the privilege of collecting and curating compelling community stories, contributing to exhibits and projects on a wide array of topics. These include but are not limited to the experiences of World War Two in Northern Utah, the impactful contributions of women in their communities, grassroots movements, the lives of members of Congress and local government officials, veterans spanning multiple wars, under-represented experiences of minority communities, railroad workers, and dedicated community activists.

Experience

I received my Oral History training through one-on-one mentorship with a professional and experienced Oral Historian at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. I trained under her for two years while being paid to collect oral histories for Weber State Stewart Library's Special Collections Oral History program. In 2019, I was hired to conduct oral histories for the Hill Aerospace Museum in exchange for a Fellowship that year. That project continued into a freelance commission as the project expanded and continued after my graduation. In 2020, I was again hired by Weber State University to work on a project commissioned by the Utah Defense Alliance, documenting their rise from grass-roots movement to renowned defense alliance. During this time, I also participated in helping a colleague collect oral histories from the LGBTQ community as a part of her masters' thesis documenting the experience of the LGBTQ community in Northern Utah.In 2023, I officially founded an LLC called RootsBridge as I was commissioned for freelance work conducting community oral histories for the Ogden Union Station Museum. This museum wished to document the experiences of those working at the Union Station while it was still a train station, as well as the diverse communities which came to Ogden to work for the railroad.
